Boys Without Borders Nigeria, through the generosity of Mr Chidera Anushiem, is officially calling for entries for the 2026 Chidera Anushiem Essay Competition.
This undergraduate essay competition is a part of BWB NG’s annual International Day of the Boy-child (IDBC) campaign. Through this initiative, Boys Without Borders Nigeria aims to foster intellectual engagement on pressing societal issues and empower young men in Nigerian universities.
The timeline for the submission of entries is April 4 – April 22, 2026.
Modalities of The Essay Competition
This year’s topic is “Equality Begins at Home: How Family and Upbringing Shape Attitudes Toward Gender.”
First, second, and third place winners will receive rewards of N70,000, N50,000, and N30,000, respectively. The top ten competitors would also be eligible for mentorship opportunities and other prestigious awards.
Guidelines for Submission
1. Entrants must be undergraduate students of a higher institution in Nigeria.
2. Entrants must be male.
3. Entrants must submit a photo of their ID card with their entries. In case they do not have an ID card, they may submit a substitute that carries their name, photo and the name of their school.
4. The essay must not be more than 800 – 1000 words.
5. The deadline for submission is April 22nd, 2026.
6. Essay documents must not contain the NAME of the entrant and their SCHOOL NAME. It should be filled out in the form.
7. The document should contain the title and word count.
8. Submissions with plagiarised content will not be graded.

10. Entrants must follow Boys Without Borders NG (@boyswithoutbordersng) on Instagram, register on the Writinova website (writinova.com) with the coupon code “BWBMXL”, and upload proof on the form above.
11. After grading, the top ten essays will be shortlisted and writers invited to attend the conference.
12. The top three winners will be selected for the monetary prizes.
13. The top five will receive consolation prizes.
N.B: This essay competition is not open to members of Boys Without Borders NG and Boys Without Borders’ campus networks.
